Nitish government’s plan to promote tourism and earn money from home, understand the Chief Minister’s Home Stay Scheme

In these, house owners within a radius of five km from the tourist spots in urban areas and ten km from the tourist spots in rural areas can register their rooms. To promote tourism in Bihar, a scheme has been started to accommodate tourists in houses near tourist places. Under the Chief Minister Home Stay Scheme, people can accommodate tourists in one to six rooms of their house where complete care will be taken of the convenience of the tourists. The government will also provide financial assistance in this.

After approval from the cabinet, Tourism Minister Nitish Mishra has inaugurated the action plan related to this. Under this, in the first phase, this facility is being started around 28 tourist places in 15 districts. In these, house owners within a radius of 5 km from tourist places in urban areas and 10 km from tourist places in rural areas can register their rooms. The rooms should be clean and well-lit. The rooms should have basic facilities like toilet, bathroom, etc. The house owner will have the right to decide the rent of the room. In the house where the house owner does not live, an operator will have to be appointed.

For the information of tourists, the address and phone number of such houses will be listed on the department’s website. Tour and travel operators will encourage tourists to stay in such houses. They will have a list of such houses. The house owner will be given skill development training from time to time.

Financial help will be given for upgrading the room: The government will provide financial help to the people selected in the scheme. A maximum of Rs. 2.5 lakhs will be given as loan per room. The government will pay the interest amount for five years on this. The upgradation work will have to be completed in three months. The interest amount will be taken back if the scheme is closed in between. After applying, the house will be included in the scheme only after investigation at the regional and headquarters level.
