The CBI investigation into the rape and murder case at Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital and College is underway. In this connection, officials on Saturday started questioning another doctor close to the college’s former principal Sandip Ghosh. A CBI official gave this information. Birupaksha Biswas appeared before CBI officials at the CGO Complex office in Salt Lake area. Biswas was recently shifted from Burdwan Medical College and Hospital to the remote Kakdwip Hospital in South 24 Parganas district by the West Bengal Health Department.
The CBI official said Biswas is allegedly part of the ‘North Bengal lobby’ active in medical colleges. He was seen at RG Kar Hospital on August 9. The same day the body of a female trainee doctor was found in the seminar hall of the hospital. Doctors in West Bengal are calling a group of doctors and officials posted in government medical establishments as ‘North Bengal lobby’ who allegedly threatened the students.
