The Vigilance Department (Anti -Corruption Department) raided seven places and locations associated with Baikunth Nath Sarangi, after which cash worth Rs 2.1 crore was recovered. During the raid, Sarangi tried to throw the bundles of 500-500 notes out of the window, but he failed.
Allegations of disproportionate assets
According to media reports, the Vigilance Department started an investigation after allegations of disproportionate assets. For this, the team conducted raids together at seven places in Sarangi, including a flat in Bhubaneswar, house in Angul and Puri’s flat. For this, the team of 8 Deputy Superintendents of Police, 12 Inspector, 6 Assistant Sub -Inspector had gone. During this time, when Sarangi raided the house in Bhubaneswar, Sarangi tried to throw the bundles of 500-500 rupee notes out of the house window, but the team immediately took action and seized the money.
Machine called to count notes
According to the information, about 1 crore rupees cash was recovered from the flat in Bhubaneswar in Sarangi while Rs 1.1 crore cash was recovered from the two -storey house of Angul. The notes were so much that the machine was also called to count them. In this case, Vigilance team officials say it is just the initial seizure and the raids are still going on.
