Rape case: A heartbreaking incident has come to light in Gajapati district of Odisha, where a 60 -year -old man accused of sexual harassment was allegedly murdered by women from the village and burnt the body. Police said 10 people have been arrested so far in this case, including eight women and two men.

Mohna police station in -charge Basant Sethi informed that his family had lodged a complaint of disappearance of the deceased person. During the investigation, the police found clues that he had been murdered and the body was burnt in the forest. After this, burnt bones and ash were recovered in a mountainous area, about two kilometers from the village.

The incident took place on the night of June 3

According to police, the incident occurred on the night of 3 June when the deceased allegedly raped a 52 -year -old widow woman from the village. After this, some women of the village, including women who were in the east, had a meeting and decided to punish the accused together. Police say the woman group reached the house of the accused, where he was sleeping. Meanwhile, a 52 -year -old woman murdered her with the help of other people. In this entire incident, two men also assisted women.

The confession of victim women

The station in -charge said that six women arrested have admitted during interrogation that they had become a victim of sexual harassment of the accused earlier and took this step to eliminate their long -running mental and physical abuse.

Police did not get any complaint in the past

Gajapati district Superintendent of Police Jatindra Kumar said that women had never lodged any complaint against the deceased, nor demanded any help. He said, this incident is an example of taking up the law. We are investigating the whole matter deeply.

Investigation is still going on

The police is engaged in gathering evidence related to the case and forensic investigation of the scene. Officials say a case has been registered against all the accused under murder and destruction of the dead body, and further investigation is on.
