Asaduddin Owaisi on India Alliance: In Bihar, Asaduddin Owaisi’s party AIMIM is preparing to contest elections in collaboration with the Grand Alliance. The party says that they are having talks with RJD and some Congress leaders. However, Tejashwi Yadav, who is leading the Grand Alliance, said in an interview that there has been no talks about it yet.
Meanwhile, AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi clearly stated that if the Grand Alliance wants to stop the NDA in Bihar, his party is ready to walk together. But this decision will have to be taken by the parties of the Grand Alliance. If he does not want to take AIMIM along, then his party will contest elections outside Seemanchal. Owaisi said that the party’s Bihar president Akhtarul Iman has interacted with some leaders of the Grand Alliance. He said that AIMIM does not want BJP or NDA to form a government again in Bihar. Now this decision has to be taken by the leaders of the Grand Alliance whether they take AIMIM or not.
Owaisi also reminded that he had made such an attempt even five years ago, but then no result came out. Now efforts are being made again, but the decision is to be taken by the Grand Alliance.
If an alliance is not formed then we will contest alone
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said that if the grand alliance does not want to take his party along, his party will contest elections outside Seemanchal as well as Seemanchal. He said, “I am ready to contest everywhere. Everything will be clear in the coming time. Now it will be hurry to tell the correct number of seats, but we have already declared the names of our candidates for Bahadurganj and Dhaka seats.
Owaisi has previously said that he can contest 50 seats
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has earlier said that his party can contest 50 seats this time. In the 2020 assembly elections, AIMIM contested 20 seats, out of which it won 5 seats. But later 4 party MLAs joined RJD. Now the party has only one MLA left – Akhtarul Iman. In 2020, AIMIM got 14.28% votes in the 2020 seats where the election was contested. The 5 seats Aimim won were all in the Muslim -dominated Seemanchal area of East Bihar. The region includes districts like Araria, Purnia, Katihar and Kishanganj.
How is the voter list amendment possible in a month?- Owaisi
AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi has opposed the “special intensive revision” of the ongoing voter list in Bihar. He has sent a letter to the Election Commission regarding this process and has raised many serious questions. Owaisi said, “We have sent a report to the Election Commission on behalf of our party and asked what changes they are going to make in the voter list before the 2024 Lok Sabha elections?” He reminded that the last such process took place in 2003, when there were one year in the Lok Sabha elections and two years left in the assembly elections. Now the Commission is saying that this work will be completed in just one month, which is very difficult.
Owaisi expressed concern that Blo has been given a lot of rights. Now he will decide who is an Indian citizen and who is not. This may be a violation of the franchise of common people. He said “If someone’s name is not in the voter list, then his job and employment will also be affected.” Owaisi questioned whether the Election Commission has any concrete figure, which shows how many “illegal immigrants” are in Bihar?
He also said that people are being asked for birth certificates of both mother and father, which is very difficult. The Seemanchal area is flooded every year, land and houses flow. Many villages and panchayats end in floods. As such, it is not possible to collect documents in such a short time and complete the process. In the end, Owaisi demanded from the Election Commission that he should call a meeting of all parties on this matter and should not hurry the process.
