Attack on golden temple: In response to the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April, the terrorist bases in Pakistan were targeted under the ‘Operation Sindoor’ run by India. Furious with this action, Pakistan fired several drones and long -range missiles as part of retaliation on India.
The strict and vigilant air defense system of India ensured the safety of citizens and religious places of the country, thwarting all these attacks. The Indian Army on Monday showed a demonstration of how the Akash missile system, L-70 air defense guns, and other air defense equipment saved the Golden Temple of Amritsar and major cities of Punjab from possible attacks.
Golden temple was the main target
Major General Karthik C. Seshadri, GOC of 15 Infantry Division, informed that Pakistan had plans to target military establishments in India as well as civil areas and prestigious religious places. According to intelligence sources, the Golden Temple was his main goal.
Major General Seshadri said that we had already guessed that Pakistan does not have any legitimate military targets, so they can attack religious places and civic bases. Seeing the Golden Temple, we had deployed additional air defense there.
Big attack on 8 May, army failed
Seshadri reported that on the morning of 8 May, Pakistan launched an aerial attack through drones and long -range missiles. The Indian Army was already alert and our air defense system was fully prepared. He said that our brave gunars destroyed each drone and missile in time and the Golden Temple was completely saved from any kind of damage.
Significantly, for the first time in this era of Indo-Pak tension, the light of the Golden Temple was also closed during the mock drill, so that the structure could be protected at the time of the attack.
What do experts say
Security experts believe that this action is a clear proof of the effectiveness of the Indian air defense system and the readiness of the army. At the same time, the message has also been strategically sent that India is not only able to respond to terrorist attacks, but is also fully capable of protecting its religious and cultural heritage.
