On Wednesday evening, water suddenly came on the bridge of Parvati river coming from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh. Due to which the road connectivity of Rajasthan-Madhya Pradesh has been cut off. The Parvati river of Khatoli, which flows in the Etawah subdivision area of Kota district, has once again seen a surge. About 8 feet of water is flowing on the bridge, due to which State Highway 70 Kota-Sheopur Highway has been blocked for the last 17 hours.
Rajasthan’s road connectivity with Madhya Pradesh is cut off. In Dholpur district, continuous rain for the last 40 hours has created havoc. The rural areas including the district headquarters have been badly waterlogged. Due to heavy rains in the catchment area of Parvati Dam, the Water Resources Department has released water by opening 14 gates 3 feet early in the morning. Urmila Sagar’s reservoir is also completely full. Due to overflowing of Urmila Sagar, the administration cut off the Khanpura road on Wednesday night and released water in the Dang area. The crops of the farmers are on the verge of destruction.
Due to the rain, farms, barns, reservoirs, waterfalls, ponds, all are overflowing. Around 40 colonies of Dholpur city have turned into ponds. In rural areas, the Kharif market of pulses, oilseeds, guar, sorghum, maize etc. is on the verge of destruction due to waterlogging. The fields are filled with water up to three to four feet. Due to heavy rains in the catchment area of Parvati Dam, the Water Resources Department has released more than 24000 cusecs of water by opening 14 gates 3 feet early on Thursday morning.
About 5 thousand acres of Kharif crop in Dholpur, Baseri, Sampu and Rajakheda subdivisions are in danger of being completely ruined. Water is entering settlements in rural areas. People’s kutcha and pucca houses are collapsing. After water is released into the river from Parvati Dam, about 50 villages situated around the river may be in danger of flood. The district administration has gone on alert mode regarding this.
