Patna News: On November 15, on the day of Kartik Purnima, lakhs of devotees reached Patna, the capital of Bihar, to take a dip in Mother Ganga. Crowds of people gathered at Tana’s NIT Ghat, Krishna Ghat, LCT Ghat, Bans Ghat, Digha-Patlipul Ghat, Digha Ghat, Collectorate Ghat and Kataiya Ghat. Devotees flocked to the Ganga ghats in such large numbers that there was heavy traffic jam on all the major roads leading to the ghats. All the preparations made by Patna Traffic Police went in vain. Vehicles were seen crawling on Patna-Digha elevated road. The drivers who were going to Arrah via Digha looked quite upset.

Passengers going to Chhapra and Sonpur faced the most problems due to the jam. Looking at the jam, it seemed as if the entire city had come on the road. To avoid the jam, people were seen driving their vehicles on the wrong side, due to which severe traffic jams occurred at many places. However, Patna Traffic Police had issued traffic advisory on Thursday itself. But due to the huge crowd, all the advisories were nullified and the police looked helpless in front of the huge crowd.

Every year lakhs of devotees come from Patna including Gopalganj, Saran, Siwan and other districts on Kartik Purnima. At the same time, a huge crowd of devotees was seen at Patna Railway Station, Danapur Railway Station and Sachivalaya Halt. Devotees came here to catch the train

Special significance of Kartik Purnima

On the day of Kartik Purnima, bathing in river Ganga and donating bath has special significance. On this day, people not only from Bihar but also from other states come here to take bath in the Ganga. Lakhs of people are also gathered on the occasion of Kartik Purnima at Ganga-Gandak Sangam near Harihar area Sonpur fair area. People are wishing for salvation by taking a dip in the Sangam. Apart from Ganga, in other areas of the state, people are also taking bath at the ghats of other rivers including Kosi, Gandak and praying for health and prosperity.
