A tent city is being built for the stay of devotees coming from different states in the Pitru Paksha Mela. About 2500 devotees will be able to stay in it at Gandhi Maidan. The accommodation here will be free. Pitru Paksha Mela is held every year in Gayaji, Bihar, which is famous all over the world as Dharmnagari and Mokshanagari, in which people from all over the country come to offer Pinddaan and Tarpan for the peace of the souls of their ancestors. This year the fair is starting from 16 September and will continue till 2 October. Thousands of foreign devotees also come to this fair. For those who cannot come, there is also a provision of online Pinddaan.
The comfort and convenience of the Pinddaanis and devotees coming to the fair is being taken care of. The DM saw the map of the tent city being built at Gandhi Maidan. On Wednesday, DM Dr. Tyagarajan reached Gandhi Maidan and saw the complete map of the tent city. He held a meeting with the officials and gave instructions. The state government and the tourism department are getting it constructed. The DM instructed that the tent city should be completely airy. Get a wooden frame at least four inches from the ground. So that there is no problem of water logging from the ground.

All types of basic facilities will be available in the tent city. LED screens will be installed which will publicise the government schemes.
24 hour power backup, security guards in eight hour shifts, cleanliness, drinking water, dustbins, signage etc. will be installed. Along with this, CCTV, VIP lodge, toilets, reception room, public address system, selfie point, monitoring will also be done through drones.
Arrangements for safekeeping of goods
The DM instructed the concerned engineer that pilgrims leave their luggage at the accommodation site while going for Tarpan. Make special arrangements to prevent theft of luggage. He said that tent city safety counters should be made with lockers and passengers’ luggage should be kept safe through token system.

● Make arrangements for fogging in Gandhi Maidan
● All the pole lights and high mast lights inside should be in working condition

There will be a counter of I Help You near the tent city. Collect information from the travellers and record it in the register. This will help you to know which traveller is staying in the tent city for how many days.
