Tourists have started coming to Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh and hill station, after the rains have stopped. Many tourists came to Shimla and nearby tourist places this weekend. Crowds of tourists are being seen on the historic Mall Road and Ridge Ground here since Saturday. Due to three holidays together on the weekend, a large number of tourists are visiting the valleys of Shimla. Due to the influx of tourists, the occupancy in hotels has increased to 50 percent. To attract tourists, the state government undertaking Himachal Tourism Development Corporation (HPTDC) has extended the ongoing monsoon discount in its hotels from 13 September to 30 September. Tourists will be able to get up to 40 percent discount in these hotels.
Tourists will get discount in hotels till 30 September
HPTDC has extended the off-season discount in its hotels till 30 September. To attract tourists, HPTDC is offering 20 to 40 percent discount on bookings in its 35 hotels from 15 July. To bring the hotel business back on track, HPTDC has decided to increase the discount. HPTDC General Manager Anil Taneja said that the discount on booking of rooms in different hotels of the state will continue till 30 September.
The influx of tourists increased
Tourism businessmen say that due to the rainy season, there was nominal influx of tourists in the months of July and August. This had a very adverse effect on the tourism business, but the happy thing is that now that the monsoon has slowed down and is in its last phase, tourists have started coming. The monsoon leaves the state in the first week of October.
Light rain predicted for next four days
Due to less inflow of tourists during rainy season in Shimla, the occupancy in hotels remains 20 percent. Despite the off season, the influx of tourists on weekends has brought smiles on the faces of tourism businessmen. The weather in Shimla is pleasant these days. There is fog here on Sunday. The weather department has predicted light rain for the next four days. However, no alert has been issued.
