Action against illegal foreign nationals: The police have detained hundreds of people as part of a major campaign against foreign nationals living illegally in Ahmedabad city. The Crime Branch, SOG, EOW, Zone-6 police and headquarters teams took joint action in this search operation, which started at 3 am on Friday.
Joint CP Sharad Singhal of Crime Branch said that the operation was carried out on the instructions of the Home Minister, Police Commissioner and DGP. He said, “We have registered two FIRs since April 2024. 127 Bangladeshi citizens living illegally were caught, of which 77 have been deported.” He further stated that in today’s action 457 people have been detained, and after questioning the necessary legal process will be adopted, including exile.
DCP (Crime Branch) Ajit Rajian informed that more than 400 suspected migrants have been detained during this campaign. This action was taken on the basis of long -standing intelligence information, indicating that some areas of the city, especially in Chandola region, a large number of illegal foreign nationals.
Action for the safety of the city
The purpose of this campaign is not only to identify and take action against illegal migrants, but also to ensure the safety of the city. Police sources say that this operation will continue in future as well and similar action will be taken in other sensitive areas. The citizens have also been appealed to immediately inform the police about any suspicious activity or illegal residents, so that the security and the system remains.
