An accident occurred in Darbhanga district of Bihar when a police vehicle overturned. The driver died in this accident. This incident happened in Manigachhi police station area on Tuesday. On this day in the evening, a pickup van was running very fast on NH-27 and the police team was chasing this van in their vehicle. During this time, the police jeep overturned.
SHO of Manigachhi police station Mrityunjay Kumar said, ’27-year-old constable Ravi Kant Kumar, who was driving the police vehicle, died in this accident. Ravi Kant Kumar was a resident of Aurangabad. Three policemen were injured during this incident. These include Pramod Kumar Singh, Bipin Kumar Paswan and Satyendra Singh. All of them have been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.’
While chasing the fleeing pick-up van, the police jeep also hit an auto-rickshaw. The injured auto-rickshaw driver has also been admitted to the hospital for treatment. It is being told that Ravikant had started working at Manigachhi police station on the evening of the day before the accident. Earlier, he was posted at Biraul police station.
According to sources related to the police, this incident happened during a routine checkup on NH 27 at around 5 pm. During the investigation, the police signaled a pickup van coming at a high speed to stop. But instead of applying brakes, the driver of the van started running away from there. After which the police started chasing him. But during the chase, the police vehicle hit an auto near Raje Toll Plaza. Suddenly after this the police vehicle fell into a 10 feet deep pit on the side of the road.
