Gujarat Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Gopal Italia has claimed that he has been promoted in Gujarat Police years after he left the job. Gopal Italia shared some documents issued by Ahmedabad Police on Instagram and claimed that his name is also included among the promoted policemen. He also took a dig at Gujarat Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi regarding this.
Gopal Italia wrote on Instagram, ‘I resigned from Gujarat Police in the year 2015. I want to thank 8th pass Home Minister Harsh Sanghvi for making me a head constable by including my name at number 726 in the promotion list from constable to head constable this year.’ There has been no response from Ahmedabad Police on this yet.
Before joining politics, Italia has worked in Gujarat Police. He was a Lokrakshak Dal jawan and worked on contract. Gopal Italia, who was an important face of the Patidar movement in Gujarat in 2015, also worked on contract as a revenue clerk in Gujarat. In 2017, Italia threw a shoe at Gujarat minister Pradeep Singh Jadeja outside the assembly. After this he was fired from his job. Italia joined the Aam Aadmi Party in 2020 and soon became the face of the party.
