Jagjit singh dallewal: United Kisan Morcha leader Jagjit Singh Dallawal has ended his fast unto death today. This was announced by Jagjit Singh himself after the farmer Mahapanchayat in Sirhind Grain Mandi of Fatehgarh Sahib. Many other farmers were also involved in this mahapanchayat and during this time Jagjit Singh addressed the farmers and announced to end his fast.
Eliminating fast on farmers’ appeal
Jagjit Singh Dallawal was on fast unto death since November 26, 2024 over the demands of farmers. Now after 131 days, he has ended his fast. However, in the Mahapanchayat, Jagjit Singh announced this and said that his fight over MSP and other farmers demands will still continue. He further said that on the appeal of farmers, he has ended his fast unto death.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan also made this appeal
Earlier, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan appealed to Jagjit Singh to end the fast unto death. He further said that the next meeting between the farmers and the central government will be held on May 4, 2025.
Shivraj Singh Chauhan said in a post on the X account, “The conversation between representatives of the Government of India and representatives of farmer organizations is going on on their demands. Farmer leader Mr. Jagjit Singh Dallawal is back from the hospital and we wish to get well soon. We also appeal to them to end the hunger strike and we will interact with the farmers organizations on 4th May at 4 May.”
Please tell that after a meeting with Union ministers in Chandigarh in March, many farmer leaders including Dallawal were detained by the Punjab Police.
