Ranya Rao News: Kannada film star Ranya Rao, who is smuggling gold from Dubai, has revealed that she had tied 14 gold rods on her thighs to avoid being caught at the airport. Karnataka’s DGP (Housing) Ramchandra Rao’s half -daughter Ranya Rao was caught on March 3 at the Bangalore International Airport on charges of smuggling 14.2 kg worth Rs 12.86 crore. To avoid the eyes of custom officials, Ranya tied 14 rods of gold on her thighs and strips. 33 -year -old Ranya, who arrived from Dubai’s Emirates Airways flight, was arrested by the Revenue Intelligence Directorate (DRI) officials on the basis of intelligence. The constable was also arrested for taking Ranya out of a police constable VIP Gate.
DRI said in an official statement on Rao’s arrest that, “14.2 kg of gold rods on investigation were found to be cleverly hidden on his body. Each of these rods was 1 kg and they were wearing tape and crepe strips on their thighs and wore pants from above. She was well aware of the protocol of the airport. Use of VIP channel
Rao allegedly used VIP channels to get out of Bangalore Airport from international flights, in which a protocol officer was present to take him and ensured easily from VIP channels without a comprehensive investigation on normal passengers. On reaching the airport on March 3, Ranya Rao was also accompanied by her architect husband, whom she married four months ago. The DRI has not indicated the role of Ranya’s husband in the gold smuggling racket. Investigations have not even been discovered whether Ranya Rao had a courier in this racket or was the main player of the smuggling gang.
Rao’s half -father, who herself is a senior IPS officer with tainted history, claims that she was not in contact with her since marriage for more than four months. However, public records refute this claim as Ranya Rao and her husband attended the wedding of the step son of DGP in Bangalore in February. After Rao’s arrest, a search by DRI officials at his residence was seized jewelery worth Rs 2.06 crore and Rs 2.67 crore cash. According to DRI, the total seizure in the case is Rs 17.29 crore.
