Red alert for heavy rain from UP to Himachal, heavy rain expected in Jharkhand too; IMD said

A low pressure area remains over north-east Madhya Pradesh. It is likely to move slowly towards the north-west at a speed of 15 km per hour during the next 6 hours. Due to this, a warning of torrential rain has been issued in many areas of Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Apart from this, the monsoon trough is active and is located south of its normal position at sea level. It is likely to remain like this for the next 3-4 days. Also, a cyclonic circulation remains over South Gujarat.

In its latest updates, IMD has said that the weather of West UP is going to change due to the low pressure area moving slowly in the northwest direction. Due to its effect, a red alert has been issued for moderate to heavy rain in West UP including Meerut in the next 72 hours. The Meteorological Department has predicted extremely heavy rain in some parts.

Torrential means 204 mm or more of rain in a few hours. This situation is enough to cause flood-like conditions in the lower parts. Meerut recorded the heaviest rainfall in a decade on 27 July 2018. On this day, 226.2 mm of rain was recorded and most parts of the city were submerged.

According to the Meteorological Department, a low pressure area is present in Madhya Pradesh and its surrounding areas. At present, it is moving slowly towards the northwest direction. Due to its effect, there is a gathering of dense clouds. According to the Meteorological Department, due to the effect of this area, there is a possibility of moderate to very heavy rain in West UP till September 14. According to the IMD, there is a high possibility of heavy rain in parts of southern Uttar Pradesh.

Heavy rain alert in five districts of Himachal, 37 roads closed
Five of the 12 districts of Himachal Pradesh have been issued a ‘yellow alert’ for heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning on Thursday and Friday and rain is forecast in the state till September 17. The local meteorological department gave this information on Wednesday. The Meteorological Department said that heavy rains may occur in some parts of Kinnaur, Sirmaur, Solan, Shimla and Bilaspur districts. The department also asked people to be alert about the possibility of damage to gardens, crops, weak structures and kutcha houses.

The State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) said that a total of 37 roads in the state are closed for traffic. 10 roads each are closed in Mandi and Kangra, six in Shimla, four in Sirmaur, three each in Bilaspur and Kullu and one in Una district. SEOC said that 106 power outages have also been affected in the state.

There is no respite from rain in Jharkhand for 5 days
There was torrential rain in various areas of Dhanbad from midnight to 9 am. Due to the rain, there was waterlogging in many places in the city. Children going to school in the morning faced problems due to rain. Examinations are going on in many schools. In such a situation, children reached school drenched. The Meteorological Department has issued a forecast of heavy rain for five days in Jharkhand. The IMD said that there may be heavy rain at some places in Jharkhand from 11 to 15 September. There is also a possibility of thunderstorms at some places. On September 13, there may be heavy rain at some places in the north-eastern part of Jharkhand i.e. six districts of Santhal Pargana (Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Jamtara, Pakur and Sahibganj) as well as Dhanbad and Giridih districts.

A cyclone from Myanmar is moving towards coastal Bangladesh and the Bay of Bengal. It is expected to reach the northwest Bay of Bengal in two days. Due to this cyclone, Jharkhand will receive rain for five days. The Meteorological Department has issued both yellow and orange alerts for September 14. On this day, there will be heavy rain at some places and heavy to very heavy rain is expected at some places.
