In Bhopal on Thursday, some Hindu organizations and locals gheraoed the Berasia police station demanding strict action against an accused who allegedly sent obscene messages to a minor girl. The protesters alleged that this was a case of love jihad. The accused had been harassing the 11th class student for several days by sending her obscene messages.
Not only this, the accused also threatened to defame the victim by making the video viral if she did not talk to him. Troubled by the accused, the victim informed her family about the incident, who then reached the police station and demanded action against the accused. Soon, a large number of local people including workers of Hindu organizations reached the Berasia police station and surrounded it.
The protesters gathered under the leadership of ‘Maa Bhavani Hindu Sangathan’ said that this is a case of love jihad. Seeing the uproar increasing, District Magistrate Kaushlendra Vikram Singh reached the spot to convince the protesters and make them end the agitation and got on the bonnet of a car and assured the people of taking strict action against the accused. After this, the people calmed down.
Berasia Police Divisional Officer Anand Kaladangi said that a man and his two companions have been arrested for allegedly sending obscene messages and threatening a 15-year-old student. A case has been registered against the accused under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act and the Indian Penal Code (BNS).
The police officer said that the accused used to pressure the victim to talk. When the girl refused to do so, he threatened to defame the victim by making the video viral. The accused used to constantly follow the victim on social media.
