The death of NCP i.e. Nationalist Congress Party leader Baba Siddiqui seems to be creating sourness in the Mahayuti itself. It is reported that now most questions are being raised on the Deputy Chief Minister regarding Siddiqui’s death. Alliance partner NCP has even said that this is ‘the failure of the Home Department.’ The special thing is that Fadnavis handles the Home Ministry in the Maharashtra government.
What did you say friend?
NCP spokesperson MLC Amol Mitkari said that this murder is a big blow to his party. He said, ‘The murder shows the dire security situation in Mumbai. If this happens to a common man, we understand… but a former minister has died, which shows the failure of the Home Department. He said, ‘If Mumbai Police had taken the threat to Baba Siddiqui’s life seriously, this murder would not have happened. Our national president Ajit Pawar lost his close friend.
Along with NCP, opposition parties of the state are also cornering Fadnavis and the state government. Congress said, ‘Where is the government? Whenever questions arise on law and order, the government comes up with a story. Law and order has collapsed in Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur and other parts of the state. Shiv Sena (UBT) has accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde of interfering in Fadnavis’s department and demanded his resignation.
Questions raised on Mumbai Police and Home Department
In September last year, the police had lathi-charged the protesters during a demonstration led by Manoj Jarange Patil. During that time Fadnavis also had to face questions from fellow parties. However, NCP leader Chhagan Bhujwal came to his defence. In February, BJP’s Kalyan East MLA Ganpat Gaikwad had shot Shiv Sena worker Mahesh Gaikwad at the police station.
Questions were also raised on Fadnavis during the firing at the house of Bollywood actor Salman Khan. The government, police and home department also had to face questions from the Bombay High Court in the case of sexual harassment of minor girls in Badlapur.
