The troubles of former principal of Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, Sandip Ghosh, seem to be increasing. On Tuesday, a special CBI court sent him to judicial custody till September 23 in the case of financial irregularities. The court has also sent his security guard Afsar Ali and two associates (contractor vendor Biplab Sinha and Suman Hazra) to judicial custody till September 23. During the hearing of the case, the CBI told the court that if necessary, it will again demand their custody.
A trainee doctor was raped and murdered in RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. Amidst the ongoing protests over this, Ghosh was arrested by the CBI on September 2 on charges of financial irregularities. The court sent him to CBI custody for 8 days on September 3. Regarding the financial irregularities, the CBI officer said that they have received more names, who were allegedly involved in it. He said, ‘More people were involved in the irregularities, which were carried out in a planned manner.’
accused of destroying evidence
It is worth noting that 30 days have passed since the Kolkata incident, but the investigators have not yet been able to find out the real reason behind the crime. CBI investigators said that due to lack of evidence from the crime scene, they are unable to connect many links of the case and this has affected the investigation of the crime. After the order of the Calcutta High Court, CBI took over the investigation of this case on 13 August. Earlier, Kolkata Police was investigating the case. During the investigation, it was found that on August 10, Sandeep Ghosh had ordered the demolition of the doctors’ rest room and the toilet attached to the seminar hall. It is feared that important evidence has also been destroyed due to the demolition of some part of these areas by the PWD.
