Amid the growing challenge of terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir, security forces took major action on Wednesday. At least three terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in Kupwara district. The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army has given this information. According to them, security forces killed two terrorists in an encounter in Machil sector of Kupwara. At the same time, another terrorist was killed in Tangdhar sector of Kupwara.
Let us tell you that on the intervening night of 28-29 August, security forces launched a major search operation after terrorists were seen in the Tangdhar sector. During this time, an operation was also carried out in the Machil sector. Soldiers of 57 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) had seen two to three terrorists in the area.
Apart from this, a third encounter started between security forces and terrorists in Rajouri district. Three to four terrorists were suspected to be hiding here.
“Based on intelligence inputs about a possible infiltration, Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched an operation in Tangdhar area of Kupwara on the night of 28-29 August. One terrorist is suspected to have been killed in the operation,” the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps said in a post on X.
In another post, he said, “Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a joint operation in Machil Sector of Kupwara on the night of 28-29 August. Suspicious movement was observed in bad weather and firing was done by our troops. Two terrorists are suspected to have been killed. Operation is ongoing.”
Encounter starts in Rajouri district
An encounter broke out between security forces and militants during a cordon and search operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday, officials said. A police spokesman said, “Security forces had launched a search operation in Kheri Mohra Lathi and Danthal villages of Rajouri district at 9.30 pm on Wednesday night.”
The spokesperson said that the terrorists were found during the search operation at around 11:45 am. He said that after this, firing started between the terrorists and security forces near Kheri Mohra area. Officials said that two to three terrorists are hiding in the cordoned area. He said that additional security forces have been sent to the area to strengthen the cordon and search operation.
A group of Village Defence Guards (VDG) had on Monday night spotted two unidentified persons near a house in Mira-Nagrota village of Rajouri district and fired shots in the air. Following this, security forces had launched a search operation in the area.
