Shalimar Express Derail: Two coaches of Shalimar Express derailed near Kalmana station in Nagpur, Maharashtra on Tuesday. However, there is no news of any casualty or serious injury. Rail traffic has been disrupted due to the derailment of the train. Railway officials said repair work is underway to bring the situation under control and resume normal train operations.
Senior DCM of South East Central Railway Dilip Singh said that two coaches and parcel van of train number 18029 CSMT Shalimar Express train derailed near Kalamana station near Nagpur. No passenger was injured in this incident.
The railway administration is making every possible effort to take the passengers to their destination. There is no information about any casualty in this incident. Railway administration has started a helpline and started providing basic facilities to the passengers.
Accidents that have happened before
On October 17, Agartala-Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express derailed in Lumding-Badarpur Hill section at Diblong station under Lumding division in Assam. 8 coaches including the engine of the train derailed. However, no casualties or serious injuries were reported.
– On October 11, 12 coaches of Bagmati Express derailed in Kavarpettai, Tamil Nadu. The accident occurred at around 8.30 pm, when 12578 Bagmati Express train going from Mysore in Karnataka to Darbhanga in Bihar passed through Ponneri station. Railway officials said it appeared that the train had entered the loop line, where a goods train was standing. The fortunate thing is that there were no casualties in this accident.
The incident was similar to that of Balasore in 2023, when the Coromandel Express had similarly entered the loop line and collided with a goods train. Earlier, another train Bengaluru-Howrah Superfast had collided with it. 296 people died in this accident. It was considered one of the country’s deadliest train accidents.
