Umesh makwana resigns: In Gujarat, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has won the by -election, but in the meantime, Umesh Makwana, a big leader of the party, has resigned from all his posts. Botad MLA Makwana decided to give up all the posts and responsibilities of the party and sent his resignation to Arvind Kejriwal. This step has come at a time when there is an atmosphere of happiness in the party after the victory of Gopal Italia on the Visavadar seat. A day earlier, Kejriwal expressed confidence to form a government in 2027 in Gujarat.

AAP leader Umesh Makwana resigns from all posts

Makwana said in a letter to Kejriwal that he is no longer able to do social service properly. Speaking to reporters, he also expressed displeasure with the party and said that he would soon decide on his MLA position. Makwana said, “I was a joint secretary in the party for the last 2.5 years and was serving the party in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly, but now I am not able to do my social work properly, so I am resigning.” Makwana left the BJP in 2020 and joined AAP.

Umesh Makwana had been walking away from the party’s work for some time. He gave a press conference in Gandhinagar and informed about his resignation. Makwana said that at the moment he will continue to be AAP workers and will take a decision by talking to his people about the post of MLA.

Dalit candidates were ignored in elections

Makwana also questioned the policies of the party. He said that the entire party was set up to win Gopal Italia, but the Dalit candidate was left alone in the Kadi area as he is from the Dalit community. He said, “There were big leaders in Visavadar, but there was no one in Kadi, where a Dalit candidate contested the election with a loan of 10 lakhs. The party left him.”

Makwana also said that the party was not successful in raising backward issues. Dalit leaders are used only in elections. He said that the effect of casteism in Gujarat is enough and every party is left behind when it comes to the backward and Koli community. Makwana said that he would soon decide whether he would contest independent elections or form a new party.
