A case of duping a businessman of 11 lakhs by posing as IB officers has come to light in Bihar’s West Champaran. The miscreants on bikes took the businessman by bluff. On the pretext of questioning him at the police station, they took him along on the bike and snatched his bag containing money on the way. Police is taking action after registering a case on the complaint of the businessman. The incident took place in Chhatauni police station area of the district. This incident has caused a lot of resentment and anger among the businessmen of the district. They say that they no longer trust the police.
Actually, Vijay Prasad, a weighing scale businessman of Bettiah, was duped by miscreants on Thursday afternoon. The miscreants introduced themselves as IB officers and took the businessman with them for investigation. They stopped his car near Janpul in Rabetiya city and robbed him of Rs. 11 lakh. In this regard, the businessman has applied for an FIR in Chhatauni police station. The police of Chhatauni police station is investigating the matter. The victim businessman is very upset with this incident.
In the application given to the police, the businessman has told that he got down from the bus near Chhatauni Agriculture Office after selling jewellery worth Rs. 11 lakh from Muzaffarpur. He had to deposit the loan amount, so he went to sell the jewellery. From there he went on foot to Chhatauni Chowk Golambar, where he started waiting for the bus to Bettiah.
Meanwhile two criminals on a bike came near him and asked what was in the bag? When he refused to tell, the criminals introduced themselves as IB officers and deceived him by saying that they would send him to jail. The bike riders forcibly opened the bag and saw the money. Then asked where are you going with so much money? You will have to go to Banjaria police station. You will be interrogated there. Both the criminals made him sit on the bike and left for Banjaria. The criminals stopped the bike near Jaanpul Chowk and started interrogating him again. Meanwhile the businessman made him talk to his son Rakesh. The criminals took the businessman near Jaanpul temple and asked him to donate Rs. 100 to the temple. The businessman took Rs. 100 from his pocket and went to put it in the donation box, meanwhile the criminals fled with the bag.
The police has claimed immediate action in this case. Chhatauni SHO Dhananjay Kumar says that CCTV is being checked from Chhatauni to Janpul. The matter is being investigated. He said that the case will be solved soon. The police will arrest those who are guilty of this.
