The weather department has issued a yellow alert for rain in many districts today (Thursday). Along with this, warning has also been given for thunder and lightning. The weather is expected to remain bad from 20 to 25 September due to the activity of monsoon. On 25 September also, there will be a yellow alert for rain with thunder and lightning in the plains and mid-mountain areas. So far, the monsoon has received 18 percent less rainfall than normal in the state. The monsoon arrived on 27 June. The monsoon is expected to leave the state in the first week of October.

In the last 24 hours, Kalpa in Kinnaur received the maximum rainfall of 30 mm. Apart from this, 27 mm rainfall was recorded in Sangla, 19 mm in Nichar, 15 mm in Morang, 11 mm in Chaupal, 9 mm in Sarahan, 8 mm in Bharmour and 3 mm in Keylong. Tabo was the coldest place in the state, where the minimum temperature was recorded at 7.9 degrees Celsius. Similarly, 8.3 degrees were recorded in Kukumseri, 8.4 in Keylong, 9.5 in Kalpa, 10.2 in Samdho, 13.1 in Mashobra, 14.2 in Manali, 14.4 in Shimla and Dalhousie, 14.6 in Bharmour, 14.8 in Sarahan and 17.9 degrees Celsius in Kasauli.

Effect of snowfall on apple season in Kinnaur

Due to this snowfall, the cold has increased in the tourist places of Kinnaur like Kalpa, Chitkul, Sangla and Ropa Valley Nako etc. These days apple season is going on in Kinnaur. Due to cold, the gardeners are facing a lot of problems in apple plucking. Unseasonal rain and snowfall are adversely affecting the crops in Kinnaur.
