In Rajkot, Gujarat, a man killed his mother and posted the photo of the dead body on social media. While sharing the photo, the boy wrote ‘Sorry mother, I killed you.’ The accused Nilesh Gosai lived with his mother in Rajkot, Gujarat. There were frequent arguments and scuffles between the two. The 21-year-old has confessed to strangling his mother after failing to attack her with a knife. The deceased has been identified as 48-year-old Jyotiben Gosai.
The case is from Rajkot, Gujarat, where a 21-year-old man has been arrested for killing his mother and then posting a picture of her dead body on Instagram. Officials said the incident came to light when a local resident informed the police about the incident and when the officers reached the spot, they found the accused Nilesh Gosai sitting near his mother’s body at Bhagat Singhji Garden on University Road in Rajkot.

During interrogation, Nilesh confessed to the murder, saying he first tried to attack his mother with a knife. When Jyotiben managed to snatch the knife, Nilesh strangulated her with a blanket. After committing the crime, he posted a photo of his mother on Instagram with the caption, “Sorry Maa, I am killing you, I miss you, Om Shanti.” In another post, he wrote, “I am killing my mother, I lost my life, sorry Maa, Om Shanti, I miss you Maa”.
The victim was suffering from mental illness
After initial investigation, it was found that Jyotiben had been suffering from severe mental illness for several years, due to which she often quarreled and fought with her son. On the day of the incident, a heated argument between Nilesh and Jyotiben turned violent. Jyotiben’s marriage ended about 20 years ago and since then she and Nilesh lived together. She had little contact with her other children.
Police performed the last rites
She was undergoing treatment for mental health issues but had stopped taking medication a month before the incident, which worsened her condition, an official said. Jyotiben’s former husband and her other children refused to accept her body or take responsibility, forcing the police to cremate her after filing a complaint. Nilesh is currently in police custody and the case is being further investigated.
