The Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court has rejected the bail plea of a woman who cheated men in the name of divorce and maintenance. The woman is accused of first filing a case to get maintenance and later withdrawing the case after settlement. A case was registered against Latabai Jadhav and her two lawyers at Silod City Police Station. Jadhav had filed the Jamaat petition citing delay in the hearing. The Sessions Court and Magistrate Court had also rejected his petition.
Justice SG Mehare’s bench said, there has been a slight delay in the hearing and hence it is expected that the trial court will now conduct the hearing expeditiously. According to the hearing so far in both the courts, the matter seems to be true. The past of the petitioner woman has also not been good. In such a situation, it can be said that she may abscond after getting bail.
Justice Mehar said that it seems that the trial court is trying its best to complete the trial as soon as possible. But many times it is not under the control of the authorized officer. It is a teamwork. All parties concerned should support the court so that the case can be settled within the stipulated time. A man claimed that he had never met Jadhav and it was revealed that Jadhav, along with his two lawyers, had filed a similar case against three other people. She does such cases with fake names.
He told the High Court that in two cases, settlement took place outside the court and then the case was withdrawn. The story was the same in all three cases. After the man’s petition, the court had ordered an investigation into the matter. After receiving the report, it was found that two lawyers, along with the woman, used to file fake cases against people and then withdraw the case by settling outside the court. The charge sheet was filed against Jadhav on 15 October 2023.
