A 47-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death on a street in Pune’s Hadapsar area after he refused to share his mobile hotspot connection with strangers, police said. One person was arrested and three minors were detained in connection with the incident that took place late Sunday night, an official said. The victim has been identified as loan agent Vasudev Ramchandra Kulkarni.
The police officer said that some youths approached Kulkarni and asked him to share his mobile hotspot connection. He refused to share the connection with strangers, which led to an altercation and he allegedly slapped one of the suspects.
“The accused then attacked him with sharp-edged weapons, causing injuries on his face and other parts of the body,” the official said. “We have arrested Mayur Bhosale (19) and three juveniles and further investigation is underway,” he said.
Three arrested in connection with murder of former Pune councillor
Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of former Pune Municipal Corporation councillor Vanraj Andekar, a day after he was allegedly shot and attacked with sharp-edged weapons, police said on Monday. Police suspect that a relative of Andekar plotted the attack due to some dispute.
Andekar was associated with the Nationalist Congress Party (undivided) before the Pune Municipal Corporation was brought under the state administration. An official said that around 9.30 pm on Sunday night, eight-nine people on motorcycles arrived in Nana Pet area and attacked Andekar. Andekar was allegedly shot at and also attacked with sharp weapons on his neck and head.
