People caught in fake degree racket
In Surat, Gujarat, police have busted a racket preparing fake doctors. There are about 1200 such doctors here, who did not even complete their schooling properly, but became doctors with fake degrees and started treating people. These people opened their own clinics and in some cases the patient even died after treatment. In this case, the police have arrested 13 fake doctors including the mastermind.
DCP Zone 4 Vijay Singh Gurjar of Surat Police said that raids were conducted in the clinics of three different doctors along with the team of the Health Officer. When asked about his degree, he showed BEMS Bachelor (of Electro Homeopathy Medical Science) certificate, which is not recognized by the Gujarat government. The health department called it fake.
Revealed during police interrogation
During police interrogation, these doctors revealed that they had received it from Rashesh Gujarati. Rashesh Gujarati had given fake degrees to many people and on the basis of these degrees, many doctors were playing with the health of the people in different cities of Gujarat. These doctors had fake degrees but they were playing with people’s lives by using allopathy medicines. This racket was being run since 2002 and lakhs of rupees were extorted. One of the three doctors whose clinics were raided by the police is fake doctor Shamim Ansari, who was involved in the treatment of a little girl. The girl had died due to wrong treatment. At that time the police had also registered a case against him. The accused had returned after spending 100 days in jail and as soon as he returned, he started his clinic again.
What did the mastermind get?
When the police raided the office of Dr. Rashesh Gujarati, a large quantity of documents were recovered from his office. Police had recovered seven registration books, fifteen renewal cards, and Xerox copies of certificates from the office. Copies of various types of fake certificates were also found. Dr. Rashesh Gujarati confessed that he had studied BHMS in the 90s and had worked from Vice Principal to Principal in hospitals of several trusts. Although he did not earn well from it. Therefore, since there were no rules made by the government, he entered the field of electro homeopathy and started this fraud.
How was the fraud done?
After 2002, whoever came in contact with him, he used to tell them that our Electro Homeopathy has been registered with the AYUSH Department of Gujarat Government, whose office is in Ahmedabad. We will get you trained in them and give you a degree, you give us 70 thousand rupees. They talked about two and a half years of training but they had no infrastructure. When the doctor went to the market with the degree, he did not get any response from the patients. Later, he started contacting people working with doctors and started converting them into doctors by selling fake degrees for Rs 70,000. We also assured them that if you treat patients in your clinic with the degree given by us, then even the police and health department officials cannot catch you.
D Rawat used to get 30 percent share
Renewal and collection of fees were also done in this racket. If any doctor refused to pay the fees, he was threatened. Dr. Rashesh Gujarati also sent 30% of his profits to Dr. DK Rawat in Ahmedabad. He used to keep the remaining money himself. In this racket, people like Irfan and Shobhit Singh used to extort fees from people and threaten them. Due to this racket, many illiterate people had become doctors with fake degrees and were treating patients. One of them was Shamim Ansari, due to whom a little girl had died a few months ago. This fake doctor had studied till class 10th. And he got his fake degree from Rashesh Gujarati.
Police arrested 13 accused
In this case, the police have arrested Dr. Rashesh Gujarati, Bhupendra Rawat, Irfan Syed, Amin Khan, Shamim Ansari, Syed Badal, Ismail Shaikh, Tabrish Syed, Rakesh Patel, Rahul Rawat, Shashikant Mahato, Siddharth Devnath and Parth Kalipad. Vijay Singh Gurjar told that a website is registered in his name. Rashesh Gujarati and DK Rawat of Ahmedabad together worked to convert 1200 people into doctors by giving them fake degrees. Both of them have revealed during police interrogation that they have sold as many as 1200 fake degrees. The police are now investigating them also. Earlier, some youth were made to complete the three-year course of Electro Homeopathy in two years. In this course, training was given in the use and treatment of medicines. During the survey, it came to light that these people had no knowledge about the course and used to play with people’s lives by taking fake degrees and giving allopathy medicines.
Petition filed in High Court
DCP Vijay Singh Gurjar said that electro homeopathy is a treatment but no recognition has been received from the Government of India and the Government of Gujarat. A PIL has been filed in Allahabad High Court. A PIL is also registered in Gujarat High Court. The court has recognized electro homeopathic medicine under Article 19 of the Constitution but has also imposed many conditions on it. You can practice but you cannot propagate it. You cannot use the word doctor in front of your name. All the people caught had doctor in front of their names. The entire course should be of 3 years. You can practice only after this. The people caught do not have any information. No one has any information about Electro Homeopathic. Rashesh Gujarati and DK Rawat had put up a doctor’s board at their house. He used to treat patients himself. The certificate was also made in such a way that it looks real. Illiterate people used to cheat people by showing them websites and data. Police have registered a case against all the 13 arrested people under IPC sections 384 and 420.
