Police arrested a teacher of a government school in Kota district of Rajasthan on charges of molesting a 12th class student. The accused teacher not only held the victim’s hand several times, but was also pressuring her to have physical relations. The troubled student also complained about this to her principal but he did not take any action. After which she told her parents about this. Then they lodged a complaint with the police.
On the complaint of the victim, the police arrested the accused teacher Ved Prakash Bairwa on Thursday and presented him in the POCSO court on Friday, from where he was sent to judicial custody. The accused teacher was working in a senior secondary school located in Julmi village.
Accused teacher and principal suspended
After the case came to light, the state’s Education Minister Madan Dilawar took cognizance of the incident and suspended the accused teacher. He also suspended the school principal for not taking action on the student’s complaint. Let us tell you that the government school where the accused teaches was earlier selected under the special category of ‘Pradhan Mantri Shri School’.
Giving information about the case, Suket police station SHO Raghuveer Singh said on Friday that a 17-year-old girl studying in a school in Julmi village had filed a complaint of molestation against her lecturer, following which the accused Ved Prakash Bairwa (32) was arrested on Thursday.
SHO said that the minor has alleged that the accused tried to force her to have physical relations and forcibly held her hand on several occasions. The student also complained about this matter to her class teacher and principal. But when the school did not solve the girl’s problem, she told her parents about it. After which they reached the school on Thursday with the complaint, but the principal and the accused teacher took out their anger on them and drove the girl’s father away from there.
The victim stood with a garland of shoes
As soon as the news of the incident spread, hundreds of angry villagers reached outside the school to register their protest. After which, seeing the increasing crowd, the school staff locked themselves in a room. The angry villagers created a ruckus in the school premises for about two and a half hours. During this time, the victim student allegedly kept waiting outside with a garland of shoes in her hand.
Seeing the aggressive attitude, police from 3 police stations had to be called
On receiving information about the ruckus, the local police team reached the school, but seeing the number of people present there and the aggressive attitude of the crowd, additional forces had to be called from two other police stations. After this, the accused lecturer was taken to the police station.
SHO Singh said Bairwa was arrested on Friday under Section 74 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and Sections 11 and 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Police produced the accused before the POCSO court on Friday, which sent him to judicial custody.
Principal accused of not taking action
Giving information about the case, Kota District Education Officer (DEO) Krishna Kumar Sharma said that Bikaner’s Director of Secondary Education on Friday issued separate orders to suspend the accused teacher Bairwa and Principal Diwan Singh Rawat with immediate effect. He also said that the school principal has been found guilty of negligence in the departmental inquiry. He is accused of not taking any action despite being informed about the case.
