On Monday morning, terrorists ambushed the Sujwan Army Base in Jammu and Kashmir. The terrorists shot a soldier posted near the base. The soldier was injured in the firing. In response, the army also fired bullets. The army has cordoned off the area and started a search operation.
A Defence Ministry spokesperson said that at around 10:50 am, a few rounds of firing took place at the Sunjwan military station on the outskirts of Jammu. A soldier was seriously injured in the incident.
Without giving details about the attackers who opened fire on the sentry post, the spokesperson said that an operation has been launched to nab the attackers and further information will be given in this regard.
Earlier, officials said that there was a brief gunfight after suspected militants fired a few rounds at an Army post guarding one of the biggest security camps in the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
The incident created panic in the area and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police along with the army launched a search operation to nab the absconding terrorists.
Officials said that the search operation is going on but the terrorists have not been encountered yet. Earlier in February 2018, terrorists had attacked the Sunjwan army camp. In this incident, three soldiers were martyred and a civilian died. Three terrorists were killed in the incident.
