You must have heard from many people that a person speaks the truth after drinking alcohol. This has been proved true in the case of a man living in Baloda Bazar district of Chhattisgarh. The man had killed two women, but was not caught. But under the influence of alcohol, he told his friend about his act. After which the police arrested the 32-year-old handicapped (hearing impaired). Police said that he has been caught four years after he allegedly killed a woman from his village. He had told his friend that he had killed a woman last year.
The accused has been identified as Tejaram Konda, 32. He lived with his parents and two siblings in a village in Baloda Bazar district. According to the police, Konda allegedly killed a 36-year-old mentally ill woman of the village on May 29, 2020. The body of the deceased was found near a tree about 100 meters away from her house. The accused allegedly sexually exploited women.
Police said that in anger, when the woman refused his sexual demand, he killed her by hitting her on the head with a stick. After this, he tried to hang her from a tree to make the incident look like a suicide, but a case of murder was registered. However, the case was shelved after that. Almost three years later, on March 13, the police found the body of a 56-year-old woman from the same village in a pond near her house. She too had injury marks on the head and a case of murder was registered against unknown people.
According to the police, about a month later, a drunk Konda told a friend in sign language that he had killed a 56-year-old woman, after which the police came to know about the incident. Later, when Kishore Vasnik took over as the police superintendent and started investigating unsolved murders, he found two murder cases that had similarities.
Vasnik said, “In both the cases, the women used to stay alone for months as their family members used to travel outside for work. Also, both the women used to live in secluded areas in two corners of the village. There were similarities in the manner of murders, like both were hit on the head and their bodies were dragged out of their houses.” Konda has confessed to his crime, after which he was arrested on September 6. He attacked the women when they refused his sexual demands, the police officer said.
