On Tuesday, about 30 girl students of Government Model School Khajuri in Sidhi district of Madhya Pradesh complained of stomach pain, vomiting, breathing problems and chest pain after consuming Albendazole tablets. All the affected girls were admitted to the district hospital. The girls were given the medicine with the assurance that it will not cause stomach pain.
On receiving information about this incident, SDM Nilesh Sharma, Tehsildar Janhavi Shukla, District Education Officer Dr. Premlal Mishra, MP representative Dr. Devendra Tripathi, Dr. Anoop Mishra and others also reached the district hospital and inquired about the health and treatment of the girl students.
School principal Mahendra Prasad Shukla said that in the afternoon, Anganwadi and Asha workers gave Albendazole tablets to students of classes 6 to 12. They were told that eating this will not cause stomach pain. But half an hour after eating the tablet, more than 30 students started having stomach and chest pain and breathing problems.
When the health of the students deteriorated, the Kotwali police station inspector was informed over the phone. He himself reached there and many students were sent to the district hospital in a police vehicle. An ambulance was also called from the district hospital and the affected students were also taken to the hospital by that.
According to Abhishek Upadhyay, TI of City Kotwani, there was a report of the health of the students deteriorating after consuming Albendazole tablets in Model School Khajuri, after which the police immediately reached there and took as many affected students to the hospital as possible with the help of their vehicle. Later, other students were taken to the district hospital through ambulance.
On the other hand, Civil Surgeon, District Hospital, Dr. Deeparani Ishrani said that the students affected by consuming Albendazole tablets have been admitted to the District Hospital and are being treated. All are out of danger. Soon all will be completely healthy.
Giving information about this, District Education Officer Dr. Premlal Mishra said that as per the instructions of the government, Albendazole tablets were administered to students in all schools on Tuesday. But after consuming the tablets, the health of some students in Model School Khajuri deteriorated. An investigation will be conducted to find out why this happened.
