The special thing is that recently Union Home Minister Amit Shah had visited Maharashtra. It is being said that during that time itself, Shiv Sena led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had placed the demand for seats.
Who is asking for how many seats?
According to the Times of India report, Shiv Sena is staking claim on 100 to 105 seats. At the same time, BJP wants to field candidates on 160 seats. Whereas, the NCP led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar is expressing its desire to contest on 60 to 80 seats. The total number of assembly seats in Maharashtra is 288. Earlier, BJP and undivided Shiv Sena fought the 2019 assembly elections together.
Talking to the newspaper, a party official said that during the visit of Union Home Minister Shah, Shiv Sena has put forward the idea of contesting elections on more than 100 seats. He said that a presentation was given to Shah on the performance of the undivided Shiv Sena in the past as well as the party’s performance in the Lok Sabha elections. He said, ‘We should retain the Marathi and Hindutva votes we used to get.’
He said, ‘On its own, Shiv Sena (UBT) will not be able to get many votes. It will get votes due to the INDIA block. Only if we get more than 100 seats, we will be able to compete with Shiv Sena (UBT) and defeat the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).’ According to the report, sources say that the seat sharing formula can be finalized by the end of this month.
He has predicted that Shiv Sena may get 80 to 90 seats and NCP may get 50 to 60 seats. The special thing is that Deputy CM Pawar has denied the news of friendly fight with BJP on 25 seats.
