Odisha sexual harassment: A 20 -year -old student of Fakir Mohan Autonomous College, located in Balasore district of Odisha, died late on Monday night. This was the same student who set herself on fire inside the college, when her voice was being pressed. After fighting a war with life at AIIMS Hospital in Bhubaneswar for three days, he finally succumbed.
Hod’s dirty action and principal’s silence took an innocent life
The victim was an integrated B.Ed second year student at the college. On July 12, he accused HOD Sameer Kumar Sahu of sexual harassment. She reached the principal with a complaint, but from there she also got only disappointment. The principal put pressure on him to take back his complaint. Broken by insults, fear and helplessness, the student set herself on fire by putting kerosene on her college campus.
After the incident, the student was first taken to Balasore District Hospital, then AIIMS was referred to Bhubaneswar when the condition deteriorated. This brave student, who was burnt 95%, fought with pain and jealousy for three days, but finally died at around 11:45 pm on Monday night.
Wave of arrest and protest
Soon after the incident, the police arrested HOD Sameer Kumar Sahu. At the same time, the state government had first suspended Principal Dilip Ghosh, then arrested on July 14 after heavy protests from the public. The government has formed a three -member committee and SIT to investigate the case.

On July 14, President Draupadi Murmu also reached AIIMS Hospital and met the victim. He assured the family of all possible help. At the same time, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed grief over X, “All the culprits will be punished severely.”
