As per the promise of Union Home Minister Amit Shah to eradicate Naxalism from Chhattisgarh by 2026, the deployment of 4 new battalions of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) has started to fight Naxalites in Bastar. A total of 3,200 soldiers will be deployed in Naxal-affected South Bastar. Out of which the first battalion of 800 soldiers has recently reached Chhattisgarh.
Home Minister Amit Shah had promised some time ago in a meeting held in Raipur regarding Maoism to root out Naxalism by 2026 and now this new deployment of security forces in Bastar is being considered a big step in that direction.
Bastar’s Inspector General (IG) says that the deployment of the new CRPF battalion will not only improve the security situation but will also help in speeding up the development projects in Naxal-affected areas. He said that these soldiers are being deployed in those areas where Naxal terror was dominant till now and a security vacuum (absence of security forces) was prevailing.
Officials believe that the deployment of these soldiers will not only increase the scope of security but development plans can also be implemented easily. Apart from this, the benefits of basic facilities and public welfare schemes will be provided to the villages located within a radius of five kilometers of the security camps of Bastar.
Naxal experts believe that the deployment of CRPF will boost the morale of the security forces and increase the pressure on the Naxalites. This deployment will also affect the safe havens of the Naxalites. The arrival of new battalions will boost the morale of the security forces already deployed in Bastar and the Naxalites will now feel pressure even in their safest areas. This new battalion of CRPF deployed in the forests of South Bastar can prove to be decisive in this final battle against the Naxalites.
