When asked when he would meet the Governor, Abdullah said he was waiting for the letter of support from the Congress. He said, “We are in talks with the Congress for the letter of support. Earlier, Omar Abdullah stressed that the new government formed in Jammu and Kashmir should talk to the central government to restore statehood. “After the government is formed, we should pass a resolution and then talk to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and other ministers so that our statehood can be restored,” he said.

National Conference has emerged as the largest party in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. It has won 42 seats. At the same time, along with its allies Congress and CPI(M), it has easily reached the majority mark in the 95-member Assembly. Congress has won six seats and CPI(M) one seat.
