'Today has been given to Congress', Omar Abdullah waiting for letter of support; 'Alone' can also form government

Jammu and Kashmir’s incoming Chief Minister Omar Abdullah said on Thursday that the National Conference’s number of seats in the state has reached the majority mark of 46. He told that 4 independent MLAs have announced their support to the party. Abdullah said that he is now waiting for the letter of support from Congress so that he can stake claim to form the government. In terms of numbers, National Conference can form the government even without the support of Congress. The National Conference has achieved the figure of 46 required for majority with the support of independents. Earlier, the National Conference elected Omar Abdullah as the leader of its legislature party.

Speaking to reporters, Abdullah said, “You all are aware of the decision that has been taken. The National Conference legislature party met, and they elected me as their leader. I thank the MLAs wholeheartedly for their support to me.” Expressed confidence and gave me the opportunity to stake claim to form the government.”

When asked when he would meet the Governor, Abdullah said he was waiting for the letter of support from the Congress. He said, “We are in talks with the Congress for the letter of support. As soon as we get their letter, we will meet the Governor as soon as possible and stake claim to form the government. We have given today’s day to the Congress to complete the support process.” Could complete.”

Earlier, Omar Abdullah stressed that the new government formed in Jammu and Kashmir should talk to the central government to restore statehood. “After the government is formed, we should pass a resolution and then talk to the Prime Minister, Home Minister and other ministers so that our statehood can be restored,” he said.

He also said that the government should work closely with the Governor (LG). He said, “We do not want any major confrontation between the Governor and the government. Rather, we want to work in peace and cooperation so that the interests of the people are served, and we can get our statehood back as soon as possible.” “

National Conference has emerged as the largest party in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. It has won 42 seats. At the same time, along with its allies Congress and CPI(M), it has easily reached the majority mark in the 95-member Assembly. Congress has won six seats and CPI(M) one seat.
