A major accident took place in Malad East area of Mumbai. 6 workers working in a building under construction fell from the 20th floor, out of which 4 died. Apart from this, 2 people are being treated in critical condition. This accident happened at around 11:40 in the morning, when work was going on in Navjeevan Building located in Govind Nagar area of Malad East. The fire brigade and Dindoshi police got information about this incident about half an hour later. Police officials said that this accident happened in the building which is being built for the rehabilitation of the slum.
This building is being constructed by Shiv Shakti Builders. On Thursday, about 28 workers were working on the 20th floor. During this time, a slab being constructed there collapsed and 6 workers standing on it fell down. In this horrific accident, 3 people died on the spot, while two others are being treated in a nearby hospital in critical condition. One worker died during treatment in the hospital. In this incident, questions are also being raised on the builders as to why there were not adequate security arrangements there.
Police officials said that there were no safety arrangements where the work was going on. At present, the police is taking statements from other workers present on the spot so that the correct assessment of the situation can be made. A case may be filed against the contractor and supervisor in this matter. Police said that if these people are found guilty, then a case will be filed and action will be taken.
