The flood situation in Munger, Lakhisarai and Khagaria districts of eastern Bihar including Bhagalpur is becoming dire. The water level of Ganga continued to rise throughout the day on Sunday. Now the water of Ganga is reaching remote villages through tributary rivers. Due to the rising water level of Ganga, both rail and road routes of Bhagalpur-Munger via Sultanganj have been closed.
In Bhagalpur, the Ganga is flowing much above the danger mark in the entire district. On Sunday, the water level of the Ganga in Bhagalpur was recorded at 34.65 meters. Due to the continuous rise in the water of the Ganga, water has entered the houses of people in many new localities of the urban area. The water level in the TMBU campus has increased considerably. The water of the Ganga has now entered the Goradih block as well. At the same time, the problems of the people have increased in some villages.
Pressure on the dams has increased in Navagachia area. On the other hand, a strong current is flowing on Ghoshpur NH between Bhagalpur-Kahalgaon and Bhawanathpur NH between Bhagalpur Sultanganj. It has become difficult to pass through the NH at both these places.
Examinations postponed in TMBU till further orders
In view of the rising water level of the Ganges, the hostels have been evacuated from the TMBU and Engineering College campus. Administrative work is being done in TMBU, all examinations have been postponed till further orders.
