Maharashtra Politics: There is a stir again in Maharashtra politics these days. Recently, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis met Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray at a big hotel in Mumbai. This meeting has become a major issue of discussion in political corridors. The special thing is that this meeting has taken place at a time when talk of reconciliation is coming between Raj Thackeray and his cousin, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray. Now the questions are arising whether Fadnavis wants to stop this reconciliation or is trying to use it for his own benefit?
The meeting lasted for about two hours
If sources are to be believed, this meeting lasted for about two hours. It also included BJP leaders Mohit Kamboj and MNS leaders Bala Nandgaonkar, Nitin Sardesai and Sandeep Deshpande. This meeting is also considered special because it was the first formal meeting of Fadnavis and Raj Thackeray after the 2024 assembly elections. In these elections, the BJP -led Mahayuti alliance defeated Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA).
A possible alliance between BJP and MNS may start
Raj Thackeray had recently questioned the election results. He said that some winning candidates themselves called him and said that the results are surprising. He also said that BJP got 132 seats and Ajit Pawar’s party NCP got 42 seats, does it feel really reliable? However, Fadnavis has described the meeting as family and non-political. But political circles are believed to have been in view of the upcoming Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections and a possible alliance between BJP and MNS may begin.
Discussion of reconciliation of Uddhav and Raj Thackeray
Discussions about the recent meeting of Fadnavis and Raj Thackeray are also gaining momentum because these days there is also talk of reconciliation between Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray. In 2006, Raj Thackeray left the Shiv Sena after differences with Uddhav and formed his party Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS). Since then, the political distance and resentment between the two cousins has been clearly visible. But in recent months, the atmosphere has changed. Both parties did not perform well in the 2024 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections. Only after this, there was talk of improving the relationship between the two leaders.
In April 2025, Raj Thackeray in a podcast, which he did with actor Mahesh Manjrekar, said, small quarrels between me and Uddhav are not important for Maharashtra and Marathi people. If Uddhav is ready for reconciliation, I am also ready. “Since this statement, it is believed that the distance between the two brothers can be reduced. At such a time, there is a question about the meeting of Fadnavis and Raj, whether the BJP wants to turn this possible reconciliation in its own way?
