UP Bihar Flood Alert: Flood situation has arisen in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar due to heavy rains and water release. Cities situated on the banks of Ganga in Uttar Pradesh are facing the threat of flood. Ganga river is in spate. Ganga is in a furious form in many districts including Varanasi and Kanpur. In Prayagraj also, the risk of flood has increased due to the rising water level of Ganga and Yamuna. In many districts of Uttar Pradesh, the rivers have reached close to the danger mark.
Flood wreaks havoc in UP-Bihar
More than 24 districts of Uttar Pradesh are battling floods. Floods are wreaking havoc in Lakhimpur, Gonda, Sitapur, Farrukhabad, Bahraich, Barabanki, Badaun, Ballia, Azamgarh, Gorakhpur, Ayodhya, Mirzapur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Sant Kabir Nagar, Rampur, Basti, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Chandauli, Shahjahanpur, Banda, Jalaun, Deoria and Ghazipur. Floods have created havoc in Bihar as well as Uttar Pradesh. Floods have hit many districts of Bihar. Flood-like conditions have arisen in many districts including Samastipur, Munger, Vaishali, Arwal, Saran, Chhapra, Ballia, Hathidah, Danapur and the capital Patna due to the rising water level of the Ganges and its tributary rivers. Communication with many villages has been lost.
Flood situation in Uttar Pradesh
The river Ganga has reached very close to the danger mark in Varanasi of Uttar Pradesh. The warning point of river Ganga is 70.26 meters. Currently, the river Ganga has reached 27 cm above the warning mark. However, right now Ganga is 73 cm away from the danger mark. But due to the rising water level, flood like situation has arisen in many areas. According to the information, 448 families are forced to live in relief camps. The water level of river Ganga is continuously rising in Uttar Pradesh. There is flood like situation in the cities adjacent to Ganga. Water has entered many villages. In Mirzapur adjacent to Varanasi, people are also facing the brunt of flood due to the rising water level of river Ganga.
Along with Ganga, the water level of Saryu also increased
In Chandauli, along with the Ganges, the Karmanasha river is in spate. People are facing a double whammy of floods. The water level of the Ganges and Yamuna has risen in the holy place Prayagraj. The Ganges has again reached the reclining Hanuman Ji. The houses built in the floodplain areas have been flooded. People are having to migrate. Nearly 10 thousand houses have been affected by this. Along with the Ganges, the water level of Saryu has also risen. There is a flood in many districts of Awadh. The water level of the Saryu river has reached 60 cm above the danger mark. People are troubled by the flood in Basti and Gonda districts adjacent to Ayodhya. The migration of people from the flood affected areas is still continuing.
