Uttarakhand news: Uttarakhand has created a new history on the occasion of 11th International Yoga Day. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced the state’s first yoga policy 2025 in Garsain (Bharadisain) on Saturday. Uttarakhand has become the first state in the country to implement this policy.
Uttarakhand becomes wellness destination
Chief Minister Dhami said that this policy is a major step towards developing the state as a global wellness destination. In the presence of representatives of eight friendly countries on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that it has been resolved to make Uttarakhand the global capital of yoga and spirituality.
Yoga and wellness centers will get subsidy
CM Dhami announced that under this policy, a subsidy of up to Rs 20 lakh will be given on the establishment of yoga and wellness centers in the state. Along with this, a provision of up to Rs 10 lakh has also been provided for research works in the field of yoga, meditation and natural medicine.
Five new yoga hubs will be built by 2030
The Chief Minister informed that by 2030, five new yoga hubs will be set up in Uttarakhand. Along with this, yoga services will be made available in all AYUSH health and wellness centers of the state by March 2026.
Two spiritual cities, Spiritual Economic Zone
CM Dhami announced that one spiritual cities would be developed in Kumaon and Garhwal regions. These cities will be made the center of yoga, Ayurveda and spirituality, so that the global identity of the state can be established. In addition, a spiritual economic zone will also be installed in both areas, so that Ayurveda, Naturopathy, Yoga and Spiritual Tourism can be promoted.
Medium of physical, mental, spiritual balance
Describing yoga as a natural medicine system, CM Dhami said that it establishes complete balance between mind, soul and body. Yoga not only keeps the body healthy, but also provides mental peace, spiritual stability and positive energy.
‘Ek tree, yoga name’ campaign
On this occasion, the Chief Minister also planted an apple plant in the Vidhan Sabha campus, Bharadisain. This plantation was done under the ‘Ek tree, Yoga Naam’ program, which aims to convey the message of environmental protection and yoga to the people.
Presence of foreign representatives, collective yoga
Many dignitaries including Ambassador Federko Salas, head of economic affairs, Ricardo Daniel Delgado, and Cabinet Minister Dr. Dhan Singh Rawat were present on the occasion. In the program, collective yoga exercises were performed with representatives of eight friendly countries, which the Chief Minister described as an important step towards making Uttarakhand a global capital of yoga and spirituality.
CM Dhami, while interacting with the local people, also gave him a message to make Yoga a part of his life and said that there is no alternative to yoga for a healthy life.
This historical initiative of the Uttarakhand government will not only strengthen the identity of the state globally, but will also give a new direction to employment, tourism and research in the fields of yoga and natural medicine.
