Bihar Politics: There was another earthquake in Bihar politics on Monday when during the meeting of the NDA Legislature Party, there was a fierce argument between Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha and Rural Affairs Minister Ashok Chaudhary. This incident happened in the presence of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, which not only raised questions on the unity of the alliance, but also exposed internal resentment and dissatisfaction.
What was the reason for the dispute?
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sinha openly expressed displeasure with Minister Ashok Chaudhary for not calling the local MLA in a government program of Rural Affairs Department. In the midst of the meeting, Sinha said to Chaudhary in a sharp tone, “It is not only the responsibility of a party to follow the coalition religion, all colleagues will have to follow it.”
According to sources, Vijay Sinha did not stop here. He also raised the issue of Prahlad Yadav, who came from RJD in the meeting and said that he had supported the formation of the government, which was already known to the top leadership. It became clear from Sinha’s statement that the flaws between JDU and BJP have deepened the flaws.
Questions raised on global tendering and tap-water scheme
The dispute was not limited to protocol only. At the meeting, several MLAs including BJP MLA Gyanendra Singh Gyanu raised strong objection to the global tendering process adopted by the Department of Rural Affairs. He said that local contractors are not getting a chance due to global tendering and this is causing political losses. Apart from this, the legislators also expressed displeasure over the ‘Har Ghar Nal-Jal’ scheme and demanded transparency and accountability on it.
Nitish Kumar’s silence, what is the sign?
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar remained calm during this hot warmth. Neither he tried to interrupt Vijay Sinha, nor did he favor Ashok Chaudhary. Political experts believe that this silence of Nitish is either strategic or a sign of discomfort. Some JDU sources say that Nitish Kumar is unhappy with such rhetoric, but he does not want to say anything openly on the internal differences of the BJP.
Crack or pressure politics in alliance?
This wrangling inside the NDA does not look limited to the program just in the program. It is showing a deep political disagreement, which can be closer and sharp. Vijay Sinha’s attitude shows that some BJP leaders are no longer hesitant to express their displeasure. At the same time, a minister like Ashok Chaudhary did not miss answering, which raises questions on the shared policy and trust of the alliance.
What will be the political effect?
If the resentment of the BJP MLAs starts coming out openly, then the stability of the alliance may be affected. JDU is already facing electoral pressure on its core vote bank, and differences with BJP can make it more difficult. The opposition (RJD-Congress) can use these differences as a political weapon.
The NDA government in Bihar may be stable, but the alliance has been in a panic within. The consolation between the Deputy Chief Minister and the minister is not only increasing the political heat, but is also indicating that the NDA may have to reconnect internal coordination in the coming days.
Now the questions arise whether the BJP will be able to convince its angry MLAs? Will Nitish Kumar take strict steps for coordination? Unity of NDA, or new chapter of breakdown?
