New things are coming to light every day in the case of rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College. On August 14, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) started investigating this case on the orders of the Kolkata High Court. Now the CBI’s suspicion on the former principal of the college, Sandip Ghosh, has deepened in this case.
After examining the call details of Sandip Ghosh, the CBI found that at the time of the incident he was in constant contact with the hospital authorities and Tala police station in-charge Abhijit Mandal. The CBI suspects that he was working on someone else’s orders. According to the Times of India report, Sandip Ghosh did not give proper instructions to the police at the time of the incident and he himself reached the crime scene only after the police had arrived.
CBI says that Sandip Ghosh deliberately remained absent from the crime scene, even though he had the opportunity to monitor the case and file an FIR as soon as possible. This behavior of Ghosh is considered highly suspicious because instead of reaching the spot on time, he delayed it.
Now the CBI is closely examining every phone call to find out if any criminal conspiracy was planned between the main accused and the other accused. The CBI has expressed its intention to investigate the statements of Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal by combining them with the CCTV footage. Apart from this, their mobile data is also being searched so that if any kind of conspiracy has taken place, its layers can be exposed.
On September 14, the CBI arrested Sandip Ghosh on charges of tampering with evidence. He was already in CBI custody in the case of financial irregularities in RG Kar Medical College. Now the agency is also investigating whether any kind of criminal conspiracy was hatched between the main accused Sanjay Roy, Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal.
Meanwhile, the West Bengal Medical Council has also cancelled Sandip Ghosh’s license to practice medicine. According to reports, Sandip Ghosh and Abhijit Mandal hurriedly conducted the funeral, ignoring the demand of the deceased doctor’s family for a second postmortem, which is making the case even more suspicious.
