Himachal Pradesh weather: Himachal Pradesh has witnessed light to moderate rainfall in the month of September. People will get relief from heavy rainfall due to slow monsoon in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has predicted less rainfall this entire week.
How will the weather be till September 15
According to the forecast issued by the Meteorological Center Shimla, the monsoon activity will be less from today i.e. Monday. There is a possibility of light rain in some parts of the state till September 15. But no alert or warning has been issued during this period. Most parts of the state including the capital Shimla have been sunny since Monday morning. There has been light rain at some places from Sunday evening to Monday morning.
During this period, the maximum rainfall of 25 mm was recorded in Kasauli of Solan district, 18 in Shimla, 16 in Jubbarhatti, 13 in Kufri, 12 each in Kahu and Naina Devi, 8 in Solan, 3 each in Dharampur and Bijahi and 2 mm in Kandaghat. This time the state has received 21 percent less rainfall than normal during the monsoon. The monsoon entered the state on June 26. The monsoon is expected to leave by the first week of October.
But 62 roads are still blocked
Many roads blocked due to heavy rains in the past few days have not been restored yet. According to the State Emergency Operations Center, 62 roads are blocked till Monday morning. However, vehicular movement is continuing smoothly on all national highways of the state. The maximum number of 30 roads are closed in Shimla district. These include nine roads each in Rohru and Kotkhai sub-divisions, seven in Rampur sub-division, three in Shimla rural and two in Chaupal. 16 roads are closed in Mandi district, 10 in Kangra, two in Kullu, one each in Sirmaur, Una and Kinnaur. One bridge each in Kangra and Una is also damaged due to landslides. Apart from this, power supply is disrupted due to failure of seven transformers in Shimla, six in Kullu and four in Chamba.
289 people lost their lives during the monsoon season
Despite less than normal rainfall during the monsoon season, there has been a huge loss of life and property. Normal life was badly affected due to cloudburst, floods and landslides. In the last 74 days, 186 houses, 58 shops and 490 cattle sheds collapsed. Apart from this, 536 houses were partially damaged. During this period, 289 people lost their lives in rain-related incidents while 30 went missing. During this period, most of the damage was caused by cloudburst.
