Voting is scheduled for 90 assembly seats in Haryana on October 5. Before this election, the BJP’s position is considered weaker than the 2014 and 2019 elections, but the party is making every effort at its level to correct the spoiled equations. Under this, the BJP has prepared ‘Plan 12’. Under this, 12 assembly seats of South Haryana are being targeted. This is called the Ahirwal belt and the number of Jats here is slightly less than in other parts of the state. The BJP is focusing especially on these seats so that if the success here causes a setback in other parts, it can be balanced.
For this, BJP has deployed Union Minister Rao Indrajit Singh. He himself is making the election strategy here and is also in charge of the campaign. BJP sources say that Rao Indrajit, a big leader of Yadav community, has been given a free hand in the Ahirwal belt and has been told to prepare the strategy at his own level. Rao Indrajit Singh’s daughter Aarti Rao is also contesting from the Ateli seat of this belt. It is being said that the tickets have been distributed in this area on the recommendation of Rao Indrajit. He is in charge here and is monitoring the campaign on every seat. However, a concern is also being expressed that Rao Indrajit’s focus may be on his daughter’s Ateli seat only.
BJP made a plan to cut the Jat belt
Actually, South Haryana is a region where there is a significant number of Yadavs. Seats in areas like Gurugram, Rewari, Ateli, Mahendragarh are dominated by Yadavs. Apart from this, there is also a significant number of Brahmins. The number of Jats in this belt is not like Panipat, Sonipat, Jhajjar, Kaithal, Rohtak, Sirsa and Hisar. There is resentment against BJP among the Jat community. In such a situation, the party feels that more focus should be given to those areas where the non-Jat population is more. Under this strategy, on one hand the party is focusing on South Haryana, while on the other hand, BJP also has hopes from Karnal, Ambala, Yamunanagar and Kurukshetra in North Haryana.
