Patna district’s notorious sand mafia Shravan Chaudhary alias Gorakh Chaudhary was arrested by STF with the help of Bihta police on Tuesday night from Amanabad Road in Bihta. A semi-automatic, two regular rifles of 315 bore, 102 cartridges (12 bore and 315), a Vindoliya and a Bolero vehicle have been recovered from him. Shravan Chaudhary is originally a resident of Raua Mohalla of Nagar police station of Bhojpur district. He dominated many sand ghats in the district and was feared among many sand contractors. This criminal, along with his associates, wanted to establish supremacy in illegal sand mining in the Son River area. With this intention, he had come to Amanabad area of Bihta to make an arms deal.

City Superintendent of Police (West) Sharath RS said that information was received that a large consignment of illegal weapons and bullets was coming from a Bolero. On this, Bihta Police Station Officer Rajkumar Pandey started checking vehicles near Modhi village. At the same time, a Bolero was seen on Amanabad Road. During investigation, three rifles and 102 bullets of 12 bore and 315 bore, hidden under the mat near the rear seat, were seized. Bolero and a mobile have been recovered. The weapon was being hidden in the Bolero and was being brought from Katesar in Bhojpur district. Police are finding out to whom he was going to supply the weapon.
