Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell chief Amit Malviya has made serious allegations against the Mamata Banerjee government in the case of rape and murder of a junior doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College. He said in a social media post that the CBI investigation has revealed an organ trafficking racket worth Rs 200 crore in medical colleges of Bengal.
Amit Malviya has raised several questions on Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Bengal government by sharing screenshots and links of two news reports on social media platform X (Twitter). He said, “The CBI investigation indicates that a Rs 200 crore organ trafficking racket was active in R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital, whose main coordinator was Dr. Sandeep Ghosh, whom Mamata Banerjee was trying to protect.”
The BJP leader questioned whether the junior doctor was brutally raped and murdered because she had exposed this illegal racket? He also asked whether Mamata Banerjee tried to save Sandip Ghosh because she was also profiting from this racket? Amit Malviya said that “The West Bengal Health Minister must know about this. If not, then she is incompetent and should be removed immediately.”
They have also demanded that the CBI investigate the role of the three doctors present at the R.G. Kar Medical College on the night of the incident – Soutrik Roy, Avik De and Sourav Paul, who are said to have political connections. According to a report, the preliminary investigation by the CBI has revealed that the illegal business of removing organs from unidentified bodies and selling them had been going on at the R.G. Kar Medical College for many years.
Two people have been detained by the CBI, who are said to be closely associated with Sandeep Ghosh, and their interrogation has yielded strong evidence about this racket. Currently, Sandeep Ghosh is in CBI custody and the irregularities in the college during his tenure are being investigated. The CBI and ED have also raided several properties linked to Ghosh, which has revealed financial irregularities. Opposition parties have questioned the role of Mamata Banerjee and her government in this case, while the investigating agencies are probing deeply into the real reasons behind this heinous crime.
