Till some time ago, Shagun had not even decided to contest elections, she was busy preparing for Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission. But at the last moment, after being made a candidate by BJP, he decided to contest the elections. But here it becomes important to know why BJP chose Shagun Parihar as its candidate from Kishtwar.

Although Shagun’s family has been associated with BJP for a long time. Although he had initially decided not to contest the elections, when he was made a candidate by the BJP on August 26, he took the bold step of taking part in the election contest. The decision held special significance for him, especially after his father Ajit Parihar and uncle Anil Parihar were murdered by terrorists in 2018. The tragic incident created tension in Kishtwar and necessitated the imposition of curfew.

During her election campaign, Shagun stressed that every vote given to her was not just for her family, but for all the families who have lost their loved ones due to terrorism.
