After the suspension of Jaipur Heritage Mayor Munesh Gurjar in Rajasthan, a political storm has once again erupted in the corporation. Many BJP councillors involved in the race for the acting mayor remained active throughout the night and brainstorming took place from the organisation to the government level. It is believed that the acting mayor may be announced today on Tuesday.
Congress councillors Manoj Mudgal, Dashrath Singh Shekhawat and Uttam Sharma met Urban Development Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra. Mudgal said that the minister has taken an impartial decision. The suspension of the mayor will curb corruption. We are with development. Three names are most discussed in the race. Kusum Yadav, Lalit Jaiswal and Kapila Kumawat’s names are included in the race.
Apart from MLA Gopal Sharma and Balmukundacharya, Ravi Nayyar and Chandramanohar Batwara will play a role in electing the mayor. It is believed that an acting mayor can be elected from Kishanpole assembly constituency because BJP has been losing this seat for two consecutive elections. Whereas, this seat used to be a stronghold of BJP. The party feels that if a mayor is elected from here, the enthusiasm of the workers will increase, which will benefit the party in future elections.
With the suspension of Munesh Gurjar in the Heritage Nagar Nigam which has 100 councillors, now there are 99 councillors left in the board. Congress has 46 councillors and BJP has 42 councillors in this. In the last election, nine independents were with the Congress and two with the BJP. Whoever gets the support of 50 councillors will become the mayor. BJP will need eight councillors. Whereas Congress needs four councillors. But 10 councillors of Congress have been in touch with BJP leaders for the last several days. These are the councillors of Civil Lines and Kishanpole assembly constituency.
